Microsoft could be on the brink of announcing a new update of its operating system for mobile phones. This second version of Windows Mobile 6.5 should offer support for capacitative touchscreens.Previews are already said to be circulating on some peer-to-peer networks, and the main change is a more finger-friendly interface.
Unlike resistive touchscreens, capacitative touchscreen can be controlled by gently brushing your finger across the display rather than pressing down on it. For example, the iPhone 3G S uses this type of screen, as does the HTC HD2, which works very well on Windows Mobile 6.5, thanks to the Sense software layer developed by the manufacturer that sits on top of Microsoft's OS.
