The Software

Logitech supplies a full software suite with the C613 webcam. Simply load up the program to access all the options in the package, such as photo and video functions. For those of you looking to add a touch of fun to your video chat, like most Logitech webcams, the C613 has a Video Effects function with loads of avatars and facial accessories that automatically adapt to movements and facial expressions.
There's also a video surveillance function that allows you to keep an eye on your home (or your kids, or your pets etc.) wherever you are. However, it doesn't have an automatic e-mail alert function, as seen in some competitors' webcams.

Logitech's C615 webcam is a high-end model that's compatible with PC and Mac. It isn't designed to replace the top-of-the-range C910, but falls just behind it in Logitech's webcam range. As well as filming in 1080p Full HD, the C615 has a very practical stand and folds up for easy transportation or storage. It also boasts advanced functions like face tracking, a digital zoom and automatic focusing.
Design & Hardware
The C615 has a similar design to the C510, with the same blend of matte and glossy plastics. Here though, the lens has a metal ring around it, just to remind you that you're in the presence of a high-end webcam. The C615 has a fold-up stand that allows the camera to swivel 360° on its horizontal axis and be tilted backwards or forwards at the same time. The clip-style attachment is suitable for all kinds of surfaces, including desks, monitors and laptop screens. Note that the base also has screw holes for attachment to a tripod.
Logitech has stuck with a mono microphone in this webcam, probably to make sure it doesn't encroach too much into the top-of-the-range territory of the C910. That's not really a problem though, since for most people, stereo sound is still an unnecessary luxury when chatting on Messenger and Skype.
The lens has an autofocus function and the microphone has a noise reduction filter. Plus, this webcam can be used to take still photos in a resolution of 8 Megapixels with interpolation.
Image Quality
The C615 manages to hold a decent framerate in 1080p mode. We measured 15 frames per second, which is enough to eliminate judder and glitches when you make fast movements. Note, however, that this resolution isn't yet supported by most instant messaging services. You'll therefore have to make do with 720p at 15 fps.
In a light or well-lit room, this Logitech webcam tends to overexpose whites, making them look too bright. This in turn means that detail is lost in light and white parts of the image. We also found the colours were a bit too bright for our linking. In spite of that though, picture quality is really very good, even if it's still no match for the excellent C910.

In a dark room (3 lux), this webcam keeps its 15 fps framerate, which is excellent news! If the image looks too dark, you can always switch to the manual settings and lighten the picture by increasing the video gain and reducing exposure. Note, however, that this will lead to a slight drop in framerate, which in turn makes the onscreen image less smooth and more prone to judder.
Audio Quality
With the default microphone settings the sound is noticeably metallic. However, if you turn off the 'Right Sound' function, audio quality becomes excellent. Voices are clear and perfectly recognisable and background noise is kept to a minimum.

The C615 is another excellent webcam from Logitech. However, it can't quite match the top-of-the-range C910, which is still a cut above.
