ViewSonic recently unveiled its new collection of monitors, which contains a 22'', 24'' and 27'' model known as the VG2228wm, the VG2428wm and the VG2728wm respectively.

Apart from the diagonal size, all three are pretty similar, with a 5 ms Full HD TN panel, VGA and DVI inputs and 2 W speakers.  They are mounted on rotating stands, can spin round to portrait mode and are vertically adjustable.  To round things off, they all come with a USB hub: two ports for the two smaller models, and a four-port version for the 27''.  The VG2728wm also gets a HDMI port that's missing from the two others.

What about the Eco part?

Like a lot of monitors that have been released recently, energy efficiency is a key argument, and all three come with an ECO mode that's said to reduce consumption by 30%.  It works very simply: because the backlighting is the part of a monitor that uses the most energy, then these monitors simply turn the brightness down a touch.  It's something that you could do yourself on absolutely any monitor ...

Currently only available in the US, the three different monitors are on sale for around $299 (22''), $369 (24'') and $579 (27'').
