Fujifilm HDP-L1
You can view the stereoscopic images captured by the Fujifilm W1 on the camera's screen or the specially designed Fuji V1 digital photo frame. Alternatively, you can use your computer and a dedicated software application to create anaglyph images that can be viewed with those red and blue glasses or on a 120 Hz screen using NVIDIA's system. Complicated? Well, now Fuji has come up with a new type of card reader that can display the W1's stereoscopic pictures directly on a 3D TV.

The HDP-L1 is an SD/SDHC card reader. It can be hooked up to a computer like any other card reader, but it can also be connected to a TV's HDMI port and it has its own built-in controls.

This card reader is primarily designed for use with 3D TVs (compatible with 720p in side-by-side mode only) and the Finepix W1 stereoscopic digital camera. It can be used to display stereoscopic photos and videos on a 3D TV, so you can watch 3D home movies in the same way as 3D Blu-ray discs or TV shows.

That said, your 3D holiday videos probably won't look quite as impressive as a James Cameron's latest masterpiece, since the W1 only films in 640 x 480 pixels per eye. As a result, Fuji hasn't included Full HD compatibility in the HDP-L1, which is also capable of reading standard videos captured by other Fuji cameras in 720p HD or VGA, but which isn't compatible with 1080p HD video captured by the HS10 bridge camera.

There's no word on price and availability in the UK yet, but the HDP-L1 will be launched this week in Japan with the fairly reasonable price tag of 4,000 yen, or around £28.
