CES 2012 isn't just about TVs, tablets and cameras, you know, it's also about new inventions including innovative ways of getting around. There are plenty of cars on display, for example, as well as this Solowheel we spotted between two electric vehicles.

Solowheel

The Solowheel is basically an electric unicycle—a wheel with a footplate on either side. Once you're standing on it, you can move forwards, backwards turn and stop using the weight of you body. It takes about 20 minutes to get used to using the Solowheel, which can travel at 16 km/s (9.9 miles per second) for up to 25 km (15.5 miles) before it needs recharging. Charging the battery fully takes two hours.

The Solowheel has been launched with a price tag of $1,800. Check out the Solowheel site for more information on how to get hold of one.

In comparison, a Segway will cost you about £5,000 (or less second hand) but it can reach speeds of up to 20 km/s (12.5 miles per second) and can run for 25 to 38 km (16 to 24 miles) before it needs recharging.
