To coincide with the launch of the film, today sees the release of the Iron Man 2 game on a whole load of consoles.

Sega's Iron Man 2 is out today on the DS, Wii, Xbox 360, PC, PS3 and PC. Those of you expecting a half-hearted remake of the film (as is often the case with game/film combos) can rest assured that the story, at least, is new and exclusive, as it was written specially for the game by the comic's author Matt Fraction.

Last week's major new release was Monster Hunter Tri. Although previous versions of Monster Hunt have been released exclusively on Sony consoles, Monster Hunt Tri is only available on the Nintendo Wii. So get your hunting gear ready for some serious monster slaying. Check out the trailer below.

Last week also saw the release of Nier on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. This RPG is brought to you by Square Enix, the people behind Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest etc. The game sees you step into the shoes of a hero looking for a special remedy to cure his sick daughter. To find the cure, he'll have to face all kinds of villains, monsters and other baddies using both weapons and magic he picks up along the way.

Finally, let me introduce you to a seriously quirky puzzle-based platform game that's definitely worth a closer look. The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom is one of those games that looks like nothing special, but once you start playing it's hard to stop. The game is presented like a silent film, with spooky black-and-white graphics accompanied by a piano, and with speech shown on flash cards. It's been available on Xbox Live for 800 points since 17 February and is now available on Steam for £3.99.
