It's taken us seven years, but we've finally managed to develop a function we've been dreaming of since the very first days of DigitalVersus—you can now choose specific areas of full-sized test shots to inspect close-up.
It's not that we didn't know how to do it, but as a process that can use a lot of both your and our bandwidth and can put serious strain servers, it's taken us a while to get there. However, we've overcome all those issues to develop a system that finally works, and we couldn't be happier with the result!

As we've already said, for the moment, this particular function is only available for the Detail 1: 100% and Detail 1: 100% with zoom test scenes in the digital camera Face-Off. When you select these scenes, a small picture pops up showing you the full test scene. Next, click on the part of the scene you want to inspect and you'll see exactly that part of the full-sized image for each of the cameras you've selected!
That means you can check how sharp the test shot is around the edges or in the corners of the frame. You can also check how well fine detail is rendered on the map, how grainy solid colours look, and how sharp the text looks on the bottle of truffle oil. Try it out for yourselves with this selection of cameras and you'll see just how different picture quality can be on full-sized images.
You'll notice three new icons on the right-hand side of the Face-Off, although you may need to close the little test scene window to see them properly.
The '+' button allows you to add more products your selection (to remove products, click on the cross next to the individual product you want to remove).
The button with two swirly arrows is for sharing a particular selection of products and test scenes on social networks, or to create a permalink to your selection.
Finally, the magnifying glass brings up the mini test scene image in which you choose the part of the full-sized picture you want to examine.
For the moment, only a limited selection of full-sized images are available in the camera Face-Off, but our digital camera team is slowly working on adding images for more models. In the meantime, please bear with us!
