Online storage

The LaCie CooKey comes with 4 GB of online storage from Wuala that you can use for two years. You can easily store your data and share it with friends over the web.
Once the trial period is over, though, you'll need to pay an annual fee to keep on using the service. 10 GB costs €15, 50 GB costs €60 and 100 GB costs €100.

Just like the CooKey, LaCie's IamaKey USB key ironically looks like an actual key. Once you slide it on to your key ring, it goes unnoticed amongst all the others.
LaCie has made versions in four different sizes: the 4 GB model that we tested is complemented by 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB versions. All four models come with another 4 GB of online storage using the Wuala service that's free for two years.
Update 08/04/2010
This section and our results have been updated after problems with the product we originally tested. The new results improve the Iamakey's score from one to three stars.
The speeds achieved by this key are a little uneven. When writing data, the IamaKey reaches an average speed of 28.7 MB/s, which puts it well above average. When reading, on the other hand, it's a little disappointing, with an average of just 6.2 MB/s. This means it takes around 11 minutes to fill the key up and 2 minutes 22 seconds to completely empty of it files.

Dreadful write speeds: steer clear!
The IamaKey is a USB key that you should try to avoid. Although it has excellent read speeds, the write speeds are so poor that we really can't recommend it. If you like the design, why not try the CooKey?
