Update: Buyer's Guide: Digital Cameras

It's not always easy to choose from our sixty or so compact digital cameras or the 24 models with interchangeable lenses--not to mention the bridge cameras that come in between … As technological advances continue, the difference between one camera and the next is often down to a small detail, rather than general overall qualities, and there isn't a single product we can point to as perfect in every category.

That's why we made a choice of our seven favourite digital cameras, and there's something for every budget, whether you need something that specialises in taking photos, or a hybrid camera/camcorder … As well as updating a few of choices, the biggest development in this update is the return of an expert-level compact in the traditional sense of the term: a large, solid compact with a powerful zoom and plenty of room to adjust the settings.
