TV Tests: Philips PFL9704H and LG Borderless SL8000

Two highly-anticipated TVs join the illustrious ranks of thosee we've tested today: the Philips PFL9704H and the LG Borderless SL8000.

The main interest of the Philips 46PFL9704H is behind the screen, where a grid of LEDs provide backlighting to create what should be an excellent quality image.  Philips doesn't stop there though, and has included all of the features you'd expect on a high-end TV: access to online content, a stylish finish, a multimedia player and, of course, the manufacturer's favorite, Ambilight.  It's available in 40'', 46'' and 52'' versions.

Its rival today is the LG 42SL8000, the first of LG's new 'borderless' TVs that we've tested.  LG has already invested a lot in advertising this new design, but is it a real improvement?  It's available in 32'', 37'', 42'' and 47'' versions.
