This TV is the 32 inch version of the Bravia KDL-46W5500 that we have tested.
Although the spec on both models is similar, it should be notes that the contrast announced on the 32 inch is limited to 50000:1 instead of 1000000:1. Even if these values don’t mean very much, they do indicate nevertheless that there are technical differences between the two models. It is then not possible to extrapolate all the results of our test to this KDL-32W5500. You should at least expect differences in brightness, black levels and therefore contrast.
Pluses
-
Excellent contrast
-
Good ergonomics overall (menus, on-screen manual, remote )
-
Variety of settings
-
Effective 100 Hz Motionflow
Minuses
-
Reduced angle of vision (the blacks get lighter)
-
No 200 Hz Motionflow
The W5500 is the uncontested successor to the W4500. Only the narrow angle of vision for blacks may discourage some viewers.
