This television is the 50" version of the 42", the Viera TH-42PZ81E, which we tested
Its larger diagonal size enables better taking advantage of the Full HD definition. This TV also comes in a 46 inch version.
We should find the same exceptional performances on these other two models. In addition, the large diagonal sizes of 46" and 50" allow us to enjoy even more the excellent rescaling of SD sources found on the PZ81E series.
Characteristics, the panel and circuitry are identical and only brightness may vary slightly which minimally affects contrast. According to manufacturers (and our tests confirm), results from one diagonal size can easily be extrapolated to identical models of bigger or smaller sizes.
Pluses
-
Contrast and colors
-
Excellent rescaling of SD sources
-
HD compatible digital tuner
Minuses
-
Rare green afterglow on strongly contrasted moving objects
-
Brightness a bit weak
-
Light color of panel
This plasma is hands down one of the best current models notably thanks to its excellent rescaling of SD sources.
