CES 2012: Sharp Skips 4K With 8K Prototype

Who needs 4K? Not Sharp in any case, as the firm has skipped 4K completely with this 8K TV prototype due to go on show at CES 2012. That makes for a screen resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels!

While others are proud to present 4K TVs, Sharp goes straight to 8K!
 

This is one pretty impressive piece of kit, as Sharp's 8K TV boasts 16 times more pixels than current Full HD TVs. It's still a prototype, however, so there's no expected release date for this impressive TV just yet.

As flagship model for the brand, this TV has actually been doing the rounds with Sharp for a while already. In fact, we seem to remember admiring an 85" 8K TV at last year's IFA ...
