During last week's CES, Samsung was showing off a transparent touchscreen display that uses technology that the company is predicting will replace your windows in the next few years. We captured it on video ...
Last time we met Simon Dongbae Lee, the Principal Engineer at the firm's lab in South Korea, he was talking about making this kind of technology available within ten or even twenty years. But a prototype of the new product--a transparent touchscreen display that will replace a window--was on show at CES.
As you can see in the video below, the display uses a touch-based interface and can access online content. That means that as well as viewing TV programmes, it will also be a way for users to check their e-mail or surf the web--anything they can do with an ordinary computer, in fact. According to Samsung, the 46'' display has a contrast of 4500:1, but disappointingly, the resolution is just 1366 x 768 pixels, so Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel content won't leek quite perfect just yet.
