After showing off its 55'' OLED TV earlier this week, LG has unveiled its second flagship for 2012, an 84'' Quad HD TV with support for 3D.
During CES 2012, the manufacturer will reveal a new 84'' TV with a Quad HD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, which is four times the size of the usual Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
LG has opted for passive, rather than active 4D, which has the advantage of using lightweight glasses without integrated electronics that are more comfortable to wear and cheaper to make.
The usual reduction in resolution isn't a problem on such a TV: even once it's halved, the frames shown on this new prototype measure 3840 x 1080 pixels, double ordinary Full HD.
LG's new TV is also set to get the firm's Magic Motion remote, meaning it can be controlled both with user's hands and voice.
As yet, there's no news on when it will go on sale or how much it will cost, but we're sure we'll find out more during CES itself.
