LG is due to present a Google TV at this year's CES tech show in Las Vegas. While also offering a range of connected services, this LG smart TV will boast passive 3D technology for three-dimensional viewing.

LG Google TV CES 2012

After having already announced an OLED TV, LG has now unveiled an upcoming Google TV 2.0, due for presentation at CES 2012, which opens its doors this week.

This TV comes loaded with version 2.0 of the Google smart TV platform, as well as LG's own smart TV connected services. Users will therefore be able to access the same apps and content they already enjoy on a smartphone or tablet directly on this TV.

LG's Google TV uses Cinema 3D passive 3D technology, based on polarised glasses with no built-in electronics or batteries. This makes the glasses lighter, more comfortable and cheaper than active-shutter 3D glasses. However, image resolution is halved in 3D mode. Seeing as the press release makes no mention of Quad HD, we can expect an image resolution of 1920 x 540 pixels in 3D mode.

What's more, controlling this Google TV will be simple thanks to LG's new voice- and movement-based Magic Remote, which is due to be rolled out with the firm's 2012 TV range.

LG has given no information about this TV's price or release dates for the time being.

Stay tuned for more news live from the CES tomorrow.
