We're constantly updating our test procedures here at DigitalVersus, and after introducing clouding tests to our TV reviews in 2010, we've now developed a 'screen gloss' test.

Regular readers will know that we're always complaining about shiny screens, which we find a particularly annoying feature of hundreds of TVs, tablets and monitors. We'll soon be introducing a new test to show our readers just how shiny these screens actually are. Our test images will first of all be included in reviews, before being introduced into the face-off for side-by-side comparison between different products.

Below are three examples of TV screens we've tested so far:

- a fully matte screen,
- a screen with an effective anti-glare finish,
- a glossy screen.

We take these pictures with the same camera, which is used in manual mode and with the same pre-defined settings. The lighting in our test lab is also controlled to ensure it stays the same in each and every test.

A fully matte screen.

A screen with an effective anti-glare finish.

A glossy TV screen.
