TV Reviews: Compare 32'' and 37'' Televisions
Flat screen TVs measuring 32'' and 37'' are enough to enjoy HD TV on your new LCD, LED or plasma, but won't break the bank. Our TV reviews are divided into sections depending on size.

Our Tests
We use a new testing method very close to the one we apply to video projectors? It's the same video analysis software which produces the HCFR colormeter. This gives us a good evaluation of brightness, depth of black, the color space, RGB levels, color temperature, saturation, and the gamma curve of TVs. In addition, we add practical tests (HD movie rendering, game console and TV use, etc.) which enable us to compliment the purely technical measurements and get a better idea of rescaling of standard definition sources (SD) and viewing angles.

This new test suite has been progressively adapted to our Product Face-Offs.
Our TV reviews are divided up into sections depending on the size of the screen, so if you're interested in something bigger than the models we have here, you should check our tests of 40'', 42'', 46'' and 47'' TVs and those measuring 50'' and above.  Our Buyer's Guide also lists our pick of the best LCD and plasma TVs available in every size.

There are dozens of 32' and 37'' flatscreen TVs.  The vast majority of models were already HD Ready, with at least 720 lines on screen, but since last year, more and more TVs are capable of displaying a Full HD picture measuring 1920 x 1080 pixels.

You might be wondering why it's worth buying a HD Ready TV when you can go beyond 40'' and get Full HD?  There are a couple of main reasons:

Firstly, there's the price: the bigger your TV, the more expensive it will be.  And the price doesn't necessarily creep up in a linear fashion as you add extra inches, but instead grows exponentially as you move to larger and larger models.  That's why anybody on a budget will want to look at 32'' and 37'' TVs.

The size of the room and the distance available between the viewer and TV can also come into play.  As long as you're two or three metres back, a 37'' TV is big enough for you to really enjoy a film.  A much bigger 52'' TV just 2.5 m in front of the viewers will produce an image that's too big for some people's taste, and will leave you either moving your eyes around the frame or craning your neck to keep up with what's going on.

Finally, if you're not planning on making the jump to HD just yet, you'll be glad to learn that HD Ready TVs often provide the best results with SD sources including non-HD TV, DVDs and older games consoles.  That's because their native resolution is closer and requires less work to upscale the source to Full HD.  That said, recent Full HD TVs have made excellent progress on this front and produce better and better results.
