This week's tests + last week's top fives: beach cameras, 3D Blu-rays

Last week, the Panasonic TX-50VT20, our first 3D plasma TV blew us away with its record contrast ratios, and this week we'll be bringing you the test of the perfect complement to it, the Panasonic DMP-BDT300, a Blu-ray player bringing some much needed content to this long-awaited TV.

The week ahead will be just as busy with plenty of interesting tests and reviews, and although our photography team will be taking something of a breather after bringing you six different waterproof cameras this afternoon, the same isn't true of everybody else, as you can see ...

Tests for the week ahead


Thursday on DigitalVersus: our test of the Panasonic DMP BDT-300

 Here's a quick reminder of our weekly plan so you know where you stand:
Mondays: displays, including monitors and TVs. Tuesdays: cameras, camcorders and peripherals. Wednesdays: hardware components and printers. Thursdays: mobiles, smartphones and audio equipment. Fridays: laptops, notebooks, buyer's guides. Saturdays and Sundays: insight and analysis.

  • Tuesday: we started off with our exclusive look at AMD's new six-core rival to the Intel Core i7 980X, its Phenom II X6 1090T.  Later this afternoon, we'll be publishing our full round-up of six different waterproof cameras you can take to the beach this summer.

  • Wednesday: will be a day devoted to tests of storage devices, with a trio of external hard drives in the morning and a pair of media centres in the afternoon.

  • Thursday: lots of you enjoyed our first review of a plasma 3D TV, the Panasonic Viera TX-P50VT20, but if you get one, what can you watch on it?  One solution to the lack of 3D content (and remember, this particular model doesn't provide 2D to 3D conversion, unlike the Samsung UEC7700) comes in the form of Blu-ray 3D Players like the Panasonic DMP-BDT300.  Picking up on another past test, we'll be looking at two variants of the Samsung Genio Touch mobile, the Corby Pro B5310 and the Genio Qwerty B3210.

  • Friday: two more media centres for you on Friday, this time from HDI and RadioGears, while we'll also be taking our usual look at laptops before the weekend with two different offerings from Asus, the G51J and thee G73.
  • Monday: our Bank Holiday Monday monitor will be the Asus MS238H.

And that's not including a few surprises that might just pop up if you're lucky ...
