The Online Photographer is reporting that more or less 30% of SanDisk memory cards currently on the market are actually fakes!

A SanDisk engineer apparently let slip that 'at any given time, approximately a third of the SanDisk memory cards [...] being used out there in the world are counterfeit.' The magazine also reminds us of the little-known fact that SanDisk memory cards are actually made by Toshiba.

PetaPixel then picked up the story and published some pictures of counterfeit cards posted on Flickr by a user who was duped into buying fake cards on eBay (in 2008).

The card on the right is the genuine mode, while the card on the left is the counterfeit.
