The American firm Hasbro, maker of robots in disguise the Transformers, is jumping on the patent war bandwagon attempting to sue Taiwanese tech firm Asus for trademark infringement over the 'Transformer' name.

While Asus gears up to release a new and improved version of its Transformer hybrid touchscreen tablet, Hasbro has filed a lawsuit against Asus in Los Angeles over the use of the name 'Transformer'.

Unlike the first EeePad Transformer released back in June 2011, the new Asus EeePad Transformer Prime hasn't escaped Hasbro's attention. In fact, the firm seems to think that Asus is trying to cash in on the success of the robots in disguise to help sell its new touchsceen tablet.

It's difficult to imagine the complaint being upheld since the products are clearly very different and are aimed at different kinds of users. Then again, anything's possible!
