At CES 2012, Razer has unveiled a touchscreen tablet designed for gamers. It's called Project Fiona.
Razer has placed controllers with four buttons and a joystick on either side of its tablet, with the goal being to provide PC gamers with the same gaming sensations and potential as on computer, in contrast to other tablets on the market that function uniquely with an accelerometre or via the touchscreen.

The screen on Project Fiona is a multitouch and also has an acclerometre and while Razer hasn't yet revealed what type of screen it's using, we do know it measures 10.1 inches and has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. For connectivity, the tablet offers Bluetooth and wi-fi.

Running in a PC environment and with an Intel processor, the Razer tablet allows gamers to play exactly the same games as on PC. In the description of the tablet and spec on its site, Razer tells us that it has used an Intel Core i7 Sandy Bridge processor. In the tech spec however, Razer only mentions the hybrid user interface without giving any more details. According to information sourced at CES, Razer is reported to be saying that the tablet is currently running on Windows 7, but that it could evolve into using an Ivy Bridge processor (successor to Sandy Bridge) and move over to Windows 8.

Finally, to make the gaming sensations more immersive, Razer has included force feedback on the controllers so that the gamer can feel the events (explosions, combat) happening in the game. In the same spirit, it also has Dolby Surround 7.1 and is THX certified.

Here's the presentation video for Project Fiona.
