UPDATE 19/12/2011: our full review of the Asus EeePAd Transformer Prime is now online.

Asus has confirmed that the
EeePad Transformer Prime will be getting an Android 4.0 update in January 2012, hopefully very soon after its release.

The EeePad Transformer Prime is already available to pre-order on several websites ahead of its release towards the end of December or in early January 2012 (the official release date is still unconfirmed). Some US retailers and news sites are reporting that stock is already limited ... which is pretty much what happened with the original EeePad Transformer too.

The Prime will apparently ship with Android 3.2 but Asus says that an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich should be released in January 2012, not long after the product itself hits the high street. This would make the Transformer Prime the first tablet to run on Android 4.0 and it could explain why the product release keeps being pushed back.

We're currently testing an Asus Eeepad Transformer Prime running on Android Honeycomb 3.2, but we'll update our review as soon as the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update comes out.
