After being pushed back to the beginning of 2012, the Turbo versions of the Archos 80 and 101 G9s now look as if they're going to be out before Christmas.

No doubt galvanised by the good results reported over the last six months, Archos has decided to minimise any disappointment linked to the delayed arrival of its G9 Turbo tablets. After being pushed back to January 2012, they should now be on the market within the next ten days.

To recap, these 'Turbo' versions are actually the models presented in great pomp in June and originally programmed for release in September. Their spec: 8 and 10.1-inch screens, 8 GB minimum storage (up to 250 GB on hard drive) and a Texas Instrument OMAP 4460 dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz.
The foundary was however unable to supply the new processor on time and Archos therefore turned to a previous version, the OMAP 4430, clocked at 1 and 1.2 GHz, so as to be able to launch its models in the autumn, namely the 80 and 101 G9s

We're looking forward to getting our hands on the OMAP 4460 at last and see a demonstration of its power: the Archos G9s will have a processor that's more powerful than anything else on the market, with the exception of the Asus EeePad Transformer Prime, and on sale at under £300.

Archos has also announced the introduction of its Home products at the same time, the Android Smart Home Phone as well as the radio alarm also running on Android, the Archos 35 Home Connect.
