Dell's tablet-cum-smartphone, the Streak, has finally arrived in our lab, so the tests can begin!

Launched by O2 back in June, the Dell Streak combines the features of a touchscreen tablet and a 3G phone, with the whole thing running on Android.  Because it's also billed as a portable media player, we'll also be listening to it as closely as we look at it.

In case you've forgotten, the Streak has a 5'', 800 x 480 display that uses a capacitative touchscreen and a 1 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.  The 5 Megapixel camera has autofcous.  It's available in 16 GB and 32 GB versions, and starts at £399 with no contract.  Sign up for a £25 or £35 a month contract, and you'll get it free.

Let's see just what we make of this original product, which doesn't quite seem to know whether it's a smartphone, a media player or a tablet.  The uncertainty is something that has counted against it in the eyes of other reviewers: Pocket-lint concluded that it was better than an Archos 5, if that's what you're looking for, 'but it's difficult to ignore the fact that the Streak sits awkwardly above smartphone dimensions, without really establishing a position for itself.'
