Although it's still a prototype, Sony this week unveiled a colour screen that can be rolled up around a pencil!
The 4.1-inch 'rollable' screen uses Sony's Organic Thin-Film Transistors, or OTFT. You may remember that the firm has already presented a flexible 27-inch OLED, but this time, the screen can be rolled up around a 4 mm cylinder as it no longer integrates a rigid electronic circuit around the edges. The screen has a resolution of 432 x 240 dots, a contrast of 1000:1 and can display moving pictures in 16.7 million colours.
Sony also states that 'Even after 1000 cycles of repeatedly rolling-up and stretching the display, there was no clear degradation in the display's ability to reproduce moving images'.
