Earlier today we mentioned that Sony is planning to update the firmware on its PS3 console to make it compatible with 3D content, and we've just found out that the new firmware will be available at the end of this summer.
The world's PS3 owners might have to wait a few months to enjoy Blu-ray movies and games in 3D, but the update will be free. It will be available both for the original PS3 (now known as 'fat' to some) and the newer PS3 Slim. And contrary to rumours that have been circulating, Sony has confirmed that the 3D-compatible PS3s will work with all televisions, not just its own.
I'm sure some of you are already eagerly anticipating the arrival of this new update in September, but be patient: you're probably going to need a little bit of time to save up for a new TV that will work with your 3D-compatible PS3.
