Bloomberg is the bearer of today's bad news about the troubled PlayStation Network, as Shigenori Yoshida, a spokesperson for Sony Japan, confirmed that the firm was uncertain when the hacked online services would be restored.

In a telephone interview with Bloomberg, Sony's Japanese spokesperson said that the firm was aiming to get all of its online services back up and running by 31 May!

Apparently, 31 May was always the target date set for the full restoration of all Sony's online services. In that respect, there's no new delay in service restoration, it's just that the partial restoration initially expected to begin last week wasn't possible in the end.

The optimist in us would like to believe that a gradual, partial restoration of service could still get under way before 31 May. Sony, however, isn't promising anything.
