In January 2008, Sony discovered the problem on the television of a consumer purchased sometime in 2007 or 2008. The fault made the part heat up and led to internal melting and the emission of smoke. Since then, ten other Sony TV owners have had the same problem.
So if you own a D3400, D3500, D3550, D3660, V3000, W3000, X3000 or X3500 (40-inch only) TV, you're advised to call customer services. A certified repair technician will be sent to your address to check if your TV is suffering from the fault and carry out the necessary repairs. All costs will of course be met by Sony.
