Comparing the performance of the touchscreen interface on today's smartphones is a notoriously tricky business. Any challenge that involves tapping the screen to check how accurate it is will struggle to maintain its independence due to the human error introduced by wavering fingers.
That's why the engineers at Moto used a robot to trace perfectly straight lines across a series of popular touchscreen handsets to see how they performed. The results showed the iPhone has the most accurate touchscreen out of the six challengers. Motorola's Milestone (aka Droid) did particularly badly, but as you can see in the results below, just about all of the handsets struggled in the corners, something that many users have found frustrating.

Of course, the actual usability of any phone depends on a lot of features, including both software and hardware, so making an accurate touchscreen the most important factor in your decision probably isn't worth it. You can find out more on Moto's site
