Pibk the best beginner's SLR

Looking for an entry-level SLR? Not sure which one to choose? Usually we'd help you out by pitching two of the best models currently available against each other in a head-to-head duel. However, with three fairly similar models out there right now—the Canon EOS 1100D, Nikon D3100 and Pentax K-r—we can't really leave one of them out. So for the first time ever on DigitalVersus we're bringing you a three-way product battle!

These days, you can pick up an entry-level SLR complete with kit lens for under £400. Plus, the latest models don't have that much to envy of higher-end or even expert-level SLRs, which can sometimes cost twice the price. Obviously an entry-level SLR will be a more basic camera, with a smaller viewfinder and fewer buttons and controls, but these beginners' models still have decent CMOS sensors, excellent image processing systems and good video modes.

All you have to do know is pick a model: the Canon EOS 1100D, Nikon D3100 or Pentax K-r.
