At just 9 mm thick, the Seagate GoFlex Slim has just been released and is the thinnest hard drive in the world.

Seagate
GoFlex Slim
320 GB

It uses an internal Momentus Thin hard drive that is 7 mm thick, while standard 2.5 inch format drives measure 9.5 mm.

Its storage capacity is currently 320 GB, for a rotation speed of 7200 rpm and 16 MB of memory cache. You connect it to your computer or peripheral via a USB 3.0 socket  for speeds of between  55 and 115 MB/s. This drops to between 30 and 40 MB/s if you link it up to a USB 2.0 interface.

The Seagate GoFlex Slim 320 GB is available for around £75.
