This new 64 GB SSD from SanDisk is barely as big as the average postage stamp, measuring just 1.6 x 2 x 0.19 cm and weighing less than 1 g!

This minute SSD is a cross between a micro memory card, an integrated memory bar and a hard drive. It's primarily intended for use in mobile devices, such as ultra-slim laptops, tablet computers and mobile phones, or in integrated computer systems such as on-board computers in vehicles. Its compact design will help keep the size and weight of the final product to a strict minimum.

The SSD can be simply welded onto a device's motherboard and can be used with standard SATA controllers. Plus, with read speeds announced at 160 MBps and write speeds at 100 MBps, performances should easily match those of the hard drives currently found in most laptop computers.

This mini SSD is only available to original equipment manufacturers. It comes in sizes ranging from 4 GB to 64 GB and prices vary in relation to the quantity purchased.
