Samsung has announced the next step for its 7000, 8000 and 9000 series of TVs: LED backlighting is here to stay, but all three will support 3D content (like Sony), in 240 Hz (2 x 120 Hz @ 1080p--or perhaps 2 x 100 Hz = 200 Hz for Europe?).The manufacturer explained that 'they will all be compatible with several 3D standards, including at resolutions of 720p and 1080p, as well as the Blu-ray 3D standard put forward by the Blu-ray Disc Association.'
Amongst the three updated lines, it's the 9000 series that sounds out as a top-op-of the range offering, with its aluminium frame and touchscreen remote. Online content will be available, and Samsung will also soon launch a platform for downloading apps.

The Series 7 and Series 8 models will also be upgraded, but without any more technical information: all we've been promised is an excellent image quality, advanced connectivity options including DLNA, and 'an ultra thin screen under 3 cm'. Oh, and yes, in case we forget: the new designs are apparently inspired by nature. You can tell, of course …
