Samsung C530: a 46'' TV for £600

One of the most frequent questions we receive from readers is 'what's the best 46'' in the £600 bracket?'

Samsung LE46C530

Our current recommendation has to be the Samsung LE46C530, a lightweight version of the C630 which we reviewed yesterday and gave a rating of four stars.  To keep costs down, Samsung has cut back on some features, stripping out some of the less essential elements, including the Ethernet port (so Internet@TV or DLNA), the fourth HDMI port and the Motion Plus 100 Hz system that helps remove the jerkiness found in films shot at 24 fps.

According to Samsung, the C530 and C630 are otherwise identical, sharing the following features:

  • Full HD matte display

  • CCFL backlighting (fluorescent tubes)

  • Contrast ratio of 1990:1

  • A great media player, compatible with NTFS devices and support for lots of formats

  • HDMI (x3) · VGA · SCART · Composite · Component

But if 46'' is still two big for you, three other sizes are available: 32'', 37'' and 40'':
