Samsung has already slashed the price of a monitor that it only recently launched: the Samsung BX2231 monitor went on sale in January, and we haven't even had time to test it yet.  But a promotional deal with some retailers means that you can pick one up for as little as £155, instead of £200.

As the visual suggests, there are two HDMI inputs alongside the VGA port, suggesting that Samsung thinks its users are likely to have a games console, media player or camcorder around to plug into into their new monitor as well as a computer.

The monitor has a TN panel, so you should expect narrow viewing angles, especially from above and below.  The spec also features a detail we love: a ridiculously exaggerated contrast ratio of 5 000 000:1, about five thousand times higher than the likely real contrast ratio that you'll find during everyday use.  Why does Samsung insist on producing such ridiculous figures when a display like this should be more than capable of producing decent contrast without having to rely on made-up statistics?
