Although Samsung has earned itself something of a reputation for launching lots of products--especially monitors--that doesn't mean that Dell has been wasting its time.  Leaving aside everything smaller than 20'', we still counted no fewer than a dozen new displays this year.  Here's a little look at what we think are the most attractive options ...

These days, we can't really see why you'd want to buy a 19'' or a 20'' monitor.  If you don't have much room, though, you might need to squeeze your display into the only space you have.  Amongst those in Dell's collection, the B2010H is the most attractive, with a 16:9 aspect ratio and both VGA and DVI.  Above all, it's a monitor to use in your office or for games that don't need a very fast display.

22''

Panel technology:e-IPS

Response time: 6 ms

Resolution: 1680 x 1050

Aspect ratio: 16:10

Inputs: DVI, VGA
Dell 2209WA

Because its panel uses e-IPS technology, the 2009WA is suited to a wider range of uses than a TN monitor.  In general, it beats the best of its competitors that use the rival technology, and comes with wider viewing angles too.  But it's also more expensive ...

Resolution: 1920 x 1080

Dell doesn't have many monitors in this price range.  A Full HD, 23'' monitor with a trio of inputs (VGA, DVI and HDMI), it does have a longer response time of 5 ms.  That makes it a little slower for FPS games, but it's still a very attractive option.

Using an IPS panel means that Dell's U2410 can be used for a lot more things than a basic TN screen.  In general, it beats the best of its competitors that use the rival technology, and comes with wider viewing angles too.  But it's also more expensive …
