Readers Write: Acer X243HAbd: Good Value for a 24''/2 ms Monitor?

Many monitor manufacturers complement their existing ranges with extra models as the year continues.  Of course, we try to test as many of these new releases as we can, but some of them slip through our net and it's our readers who end up pointing them out.

Subject: At that price, everybody is going to want to know more!

Hello,

The subject line says it all!  The Acer X243HAbd is going for as little as £150 in some online stores at the moment.  It seems to be the cheapest 24'' monitor currently available, but nobody has tested it and lots of people are curious to find out more.

I know you all have a lot of work, and you'd probably prefer to look at some more original products, but price is a big factor for lots of us.  So if you have the time, could you please ask Acer to let you test one?

Otherwise, I'd like to congratulate for your site and your hard work.  You only need to take a quick look at your tests to be sure of getting some good advice.  I would never make a 'big' high-tech purchase without looking at the site first.

Thanks for your time, and keep up the good work!

First of all, thanks for pointing this one out.  Monitors do sometimes arrive on the market like this without much of a splash, and with so many models out there, they often blend in without any of us noticing.  That's why we rely on you to let us know which ones you're most interested in, and which deals seem the best value.

Acer X243HAbd

To get back to the monitor in question, you're right that the specs seem very good for a 24'' display at this price.  If you've only just heard about the Acer X243HAbd, it's a 24'' Full HD monitor with a 2 ms TN panel.  Video input is provided by VGA and DVI inputs, meaning it could well be a good choice for gamers on tight budgets.

We're sure that you're looking forward to reading a full test, so we're doing everything to get that to you as quickly as possible.  We can't go out and buy absolutely every product that we'd like to test, so in the meantime, we'll have to wait for Acer to get back to us.
