While the new range of AMD Radeon graphics cards is expected for release sometime towards the end of the year or in early 2012, manufacturers are still busy releasing new versions of current Radeon cards.

One such model is the Radeon HD 6870 IceQ from HIS. The GPU and memory have the same clock speeds as the standard Radeon HD 6870 but this particular HIS card has been loaded with a new cooling system. We found the standard Radeon HD 6870 cooling system too noisy during our tests of the card in 3D mode, so we're pleased to see it's been replaced in this new IceQ-edition card. The new heatsink is supposed to reduce the operating temperatures by 24°C (with the card working hard, we assume). Plus, it's also supposed to be around 10 decibels quieter.

The HIS Radeon HD 6870 IceQ will come with a Dirt 3 game download coupon but price information and release dates are still to be confirmed.
