PS3 Slim Blu-ray Support Coming Tuesday

The date has just been confirmed at a press conference at the Tokyo Game Show: Sony's PS3 games console will get support for Blu-ray 3D discs starting next Tuesday, 21 September 2010.

After updating their firmware next Tuesday, PlayStation 3 owners will be able to watch Blu-ray 3D movies on their consoles.  The update, will, of course, be free.  The announcement also confirmed that the update will be available for both the earlier PS3 (nicknamed 'fat') and the newer PS3 Slim.

Before you get too excited, though, remember that you'll still need to invest in a 3D TV before you can get the most out of this update ...
