The Brother DCP-J515W inkjet printer is almost identical to the Brother DCP-J315W, and has the same basic specs, print heads and cartridges.  There are, however, a few small differences between the two models.

Hardware: there's still support for Windows, Mac and Linux drivers, but there's now also an Ethernet port alongside the WiFi.  The general look is the same, and everything is the same size, apart from the display which is now wider.  The 32 MB of memory found on the J315W has been upgraded to 40 MB here.  Those are the only real differences, but if you're interested in this version, here's a quick summary of our test results.  If you'd like more information, then read our full review of the Brother DCP-J315W.

Speeds: pretty slow!  We measured printing speeds of five pages per minute (ppm) in both colour and black and white for office documents.  An A4 photo print takes eight minutes, while a smaller 4 x 6'' print takes three minutes.

Quality: a lot of electronic noise creeps into the graphics, but text documents normally survive.  Colour photos have a red tinge, while black and white photos look too green.

Cost per page: at 15.9 p per colour page, running costs are well above average.  And when is Brother going to start making XL cartridges?
