Samsung has only just launched its first 3D televisions and already, at a technical presentation, we've been able to try out the next generation of glasses.
Cosmetically they haven't changed at all. Still active, still with hard, rigid plastic that presses too hard on the sides of your head. Although the plastics don't impress, the technical side of things is getting better.
Two improvements have been made:
We got a preview of these new glasses a long way in advance. There is, as yet, no release date or pricing.

Samsung 3D glasses

Cosmetically they haven't changed at all. Still active, still with hard, rigid plastic that presses too hard on the sides of your head. Although the plastics don't impress, the technical side of things is getting better.
Two improvements have been made:
- The glasses aren't as dark as before, which means they should give better 3D contrast. Samsung also tells us that this reduces the "color dismatch" or distortion of colours resulting from being filtered through the glasses. When we first tried them out yesterday, this seemed to be borne out, though we'll need to run them through some tests to confirm fully. Nevertheless, we already had an impression of brighter colours.
- The wireless communication has been revisited to reduce the flickering that some users saw.
We got a preview of these new glasses a long way in advance. There is, as yet, no release date or pricing.
