Polaroid is back with a new instant camera. After a few rather disappointing recent creations, the firm has gone back to what it does best with an outsized camera that snaps those classic square, white-bordered pictures that we all know and love.

Polaroid Z340

The Z340 has a 14-Megapixel sensor and a 2.7'' screen for lining up shots. The announced battery life seems pretty short though, at 25 photo prints or 75 photo snapped and saved (to an SD card).
The Z340 is out now and sells for around £230, to which you'll need to add around £15 for 30 sheets of 3" x 4" photo paper. That makes a cost per photo print of 50p, while standard 4" x 6" prints are not only bigger but also slightly cheaper to print at home (ink + paper) and even cheaper still if you use an online printing service.

We managed to check out the quality of Polaroid's new prints up close at the CES tech show back in January. The good news is that we were very impressed! Let's hope that the Z340 does just as good a job.
