We've just received the latest update of the Kodak's pocket camcorder, the Playsport Zx5.  A waterproof case meant its predecessor was a big hit in 2010, so what's new this year?

It's still waterproof to a depth of three metres, but if you look below the 1.9'' screen, you'll see that it's now also 'Shockproof: 1.5 m', reminding users that Kodak's pocket camcorder is a very tough cookie ...

You can share video on sites like Facebook, Flickr and YouTube via a dedicated button on the outside of the camcorder rather than using the menu, and Kodak has added Twitter to the list of supported services.

The whole thing has had a bit of a facelift with a choice of brighter colours, including red, green, blue, black and white.

Frustratingly, there's still no line in for a mic and when you're filming in 1080/30p the lens is at 48 mm, creating a very narrow field.  It's a good job that you can still use the 720/60p which is almost wide-angle at 36 mm.

At the back: the 1.9'' display and the Share button At the front: the lens and the new bright case

It's on sale now for around £125, but the new Playsport doesn't represent great value for money: the earlier Zx3 is now just £85 but has almost exactly the same features ...
