Remote Control

The remote is exactly the same as the one found on the BDP7500: basic, refined and with a simple enough design. The buttons are neither backlit nor glow-in-the dark.
The BDP3000 is an entry-level Blu-ray player from Philips. Despite only have a small selection of outputs, it doesn't entirely rule multimedia content out.
It has many of the same basics of the BDP7500, so you can consult that test for more detailed information. Here, we'll look at the main differences between the two models:
It has many of the same basics of the BDP7500, so you can consult that test for more detailed information. Here, we'll look at the main differences between the two models:
- There's no 7.1 analogue audio output, or even 5.1 for that matter--there's no analogue audio at all.
- There's no optical digital audio output, with only a coaxial audio remaining in place.
- The USB port for connecting flash memory or an external hard drive is now at the back, and less easy to access.
- This entry-level version can't decode DTS HD audio; the only HD audio format that it can handle is Dolby True HD.

The BDP300 is most suitable for viewers who don't already own a Home Cinema sound system that's ready to support HD audio; if having top quality sound isn't a top priority for you, though, then it's a decent model for a low price.
Pluses
-
Good HD quality video
-
No fan
-
Low power consumption
Minuses
-
Display a little 'fuzzy' with SD soruces (DVDs etc)
-
No manual scrolling with photo slideshows (three speeds are available, but you can move forward using the remote)
-
No support for DTS-HD

This is an entry-level Blu-ray player that will be perfect for anybody who's looking for a bargain but can pass on support for decoding and producing HD quality sound.
