Patriot Memory has announced the upcoming release of its new Zephyr range of solid-state drives (SSD), available with capacities of 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB.
It's an announcement that serves to further confirm the rising popularity of the SSD, which seems to be one of this spring's must-haves. Although 2010 looks set to be a year full of SSD launches and announcements, the storage capacities are still too small for the SSD to truly rival the traditional HDD ... but that could all change in 2011.
Anyway, back to the Zephyr. These SSDs feature a JMicron JMF612 controller, 64 MB of DDR2 cache memory and a SATA2 connection. There's native support for Windows 7 TRIM commands too to help keep performances at their best.
As yet, there's no word on UK pricing and availability for the Zephyr.
