How do you fancy ditching the remote control for your Panasonic 2011 TV? Well, anyone who owns an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch can do just a that, as the Viera Remote App turns your Apple device into a compact controller for compatible TVs.

Ah, the remote control, the outcast of the audiovisual world. It's invariably too big, too complicated, too badly designed or just too ugly. Some manufacturers, like Samsung, have therefore started making more stylish models, with just a few buttons arranged on a minimalist plastic pebble, while others are turning to mobile phone apps to do away with the remote control once and for all.
One such manufacturer is Panasonic, whose Viera Remote app basically turns the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch into a touchscreen remote control that communicates with your Viera TV over a Wi-Fi connection.

Here's a list of compatible Panasonic 2011 TVs currently available in Europe:

VT30, GT30, GW30, GTX34, GTN33, GTF32, GTS31, G30, ST30, ST31, ST33, S30, S31, DT35, DT30, D35, D30, E30, E31, EX34, EN33, EF32, ES31, EW30.

Once you've downloaded the app, just connect your Apple device to a Wi-Fi network and then launch the app.

The app boasts a new menu layout, easier access to sub-menus, and navigation that's been specifically tailored to the touchscreen controls of iProduits. Anyone who's had enough of their traditional remote can therefore ditch the thing for good. What's more, the app also paves the way for Panasonic's Viera-compatible Android tablet.
