Some of you might have noticed already, but Panasonic's new G20 plasma TVs are beginning to arrive in the shops. Three different sizes are available: 42'', 46'' and 50''.The G20 range of plasma TVs comes just below the VT20 and V20 families in the manufacturer's catalogue. That means it doesn't have support for 3D or Infinite Black Pro technology, which is supposed to produce deeper blacks, which the two other both have.
On the other hand, the G20 will get the new NeoPDP Full HD display technology, a built-in HD TV tuner and Panasonic's 600 Hz Sub-field drive system, the equivalent of Motion Flow and Motion Plus from Sony and Samsung respectively. The technology makes movements in films appear more fluid to avoid the jerkiness produced when objects are moving fast and the framerate is 24 fps. Like with all of Panasonic's new TVs, the G20 is compatible with DLNA networks and can access VOD content via Viera Cast. It also has two USB ports for accessing multimedia content including video, music and photos stored on a memory stick or hard drive. Finally, Panasonic has also included a feature allowing the TV to act as a digital recorder without the need for a standalone device. If you plug in some external storage, it can record TV programmes.
PS: we're hoping to get this TV in our lab very soon, but so far, we've not heard anything back from Panasonic. We'll keep you up to date!
