At DigitalVersus, we take our work seriously, and when we review a new product, we test it out in as many circumstances as we can.  That's why it seemed perfectly reasonable to take a Sony TX5 with us to South East Asia and see just how waterproof it really is.  And we were more than a little surprised ...

As Vincent as explaining last week, our TX5 got a little damp at the front when we taking some underwater photos of the wildlife.  After four days of diving, even when we rinsed the paintwork carefully with clean water, small bubbles and cracks appeared in paint.  That was when I decided to scratch it a little to see what happened.

I don't know what you think, but I think it's much better that way!  The dark grey paintwork that you can see in the photos of our original test has been replaced by a metallic finish that co-ordinates brilliantly with the rest of the camera. We don't know if other versions of the TX5 have the same paint problems, and we're not convinced that this chrome look will look as good on the pink TX5.  For the record, the camera still works perfectly, but it doesn't look too great for Sony ...

If you've experienced something similar with your own waterproof camera, we'd be glad to hear from you!
