In Tokyo, what may look like an unassuming toy shop is often sheer paradise for geeks and manga freaks. So don't be put off by the name, but we're going for a stroll around Kiddy Land, a whole building jam-packed with toys of all kinds, cleverly arranged by floor (and basement).
I went into this shop with all kinds of resolutions about not buying things I didn't need, but I still inevitably came out with my hands full of bags. It's just too hard to resist all these amazing figurines, gizmos and gadgets, which are clearly designed for kids of all ages. Don't even get me started on the robots—you can find them in all shapes and sizes. There are loads of manga and anime character robots too, like UFO Robo Grendizer and Mazinger Z (known as Tranzor Z in the US), who's currently all the rage in Japan.
And just look at this Shotaro Kanedo motorbike from the Akira manga:
It's 50 cm long and weighs 2.5 kg. I want one!
